If you have a product or service that you want to sell online, 2021 may be the perfect time to make it happen! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our shopping habits have greatly changed across the world. The need to stay safe while shopping has pushed online sales of nearly everything higher than ever before, with e-commerce sales being expected to surpass $1 trillion in the US next year and $4.2 trillion globally, before the pandemic, sales were not predicted to reach this amount until 2024.

As the world's work force becomes more remote, we are afforded greater opportunities to work in a variety of locations, but before you connect to your hotel's access point for your meeting tomorrow, there are a few things to consider! Everyone who has used the internet these days has heard the term VPN, but there is still a large number of internet users who don't use one yet because they just don't really know what it is or what it does or if it is something that they even need.

Obviously it is important to be up to date and modern with our web design choices, but today's websites are also taking a page from yesterday's design in many ways. We are seeing many companies using vintage fonts, particularly from the 1970's and 1980's, and bright, energetic designs featuring primary colors and bold lines, similar to cartoons and comics from the 1990's. 2021 is also seeing lots of vintage imagery like cassette and VHS tapes, floppy disks, albums, retro computers, stamps, etc.

If you are reading this, you are one of the 4.66 billion active internet users in the world today who loves the convenience of the internet. Unfortunately though, our convenience comes at a price, and that price is the risks associated with using the internet. Just like average life off the internet, there is always the risk of someone targeting us to steal data and, if successful enough, money and/or identities.

Now that you have a website or are in the market for one, you need your website to be seen by your potential customers. If your customers don't know about your website they will have to use an internet search engine to find your business, and simply having a website doesn't mean that your website will rank highly, or at all, on search engines. This is important considering 75% of online searches happen on Google, and less than 1% of pages on the second page of search results on a Google search get clicked.

Now that you either have your website up and running or you are in the market to have your website designed in the near future, it is time to start thinking about who will handle your content creation. With all the costs associated with running your own business it is completely normal to want to figure out which costs are necessary and which ones can be weeded out, and often times, content writing is one of the things that is weeded out to cut costs because most everyone has some basic writing skills.

Cybersecurity, or information technology security, is the protection of systems, networks, programs, data, hardware, and software on internet connected systems from cyberthreats and attacks. These threats or attacks are often aimed at accessing, altering, or damaging sensitive data and information to disrupt the normal flow of business, or even to extort money from victims of these attacks. These crimes can target anyone from average internet users to small businesses to large government organizations.

Cloudflare is a CDN, or content delivery network that provides proxy servers across a network of data centers worldwide to aide in increasing site speed and performance as well as site security. Cloudflare was created in 2009 as a means to stop spammers from harvesting email addresses from websites, and is currently being utilized by approximately 25 million internet properties and increases by over 10,000 new users each day. We consider it to be a very important tool.

When it comes to explaining what we can do for your project or business with a website, we know that almost no one wants to waste time hearing about all the deep technical details that will make it all happen and mostly only make sense to the website developers. What everyone wants to know is simply, can you make us the website we want? With the flexibility of the tools that we use, we can absolutely help anyone with their project, no matter how large or small. What makes us so confident in our work is our use of Drupal, which we covered in our last blog post, and Microsoft Azure.

Drupal is a content management system similar to Wordpress, Joomla, and Shopify, and it is the tool in which we build your website. To simplify the reason that we choose this tool over others, we will go over a just few of the most appealing things about Drupal over other content management systems.
